“Tom Brady is the Jim O’Sullivan of football,” says MarketWatch’s Rex Nutting. O’Sullivan won MarketWatch’s Forecaster of the Year award for 2018—his eight consecutive win and eleventh in the last 15 years.
O’Sullivan is also a 22-winner of the Forecaster of the Month honor, most recently in October 2018.
He won the 2018 yearly contest by edging out the next closest forecaster 242-240. Points are awarded based on how accurately forecasters predict 10 major indicators each month, as well as quarterly gross domestic product.
O’Sullivan is Chief Economist for High Frequency Economics and author of Notes on the United States and Snapshots on the U.S. Economy. He joined the firm in 2012.
